I still have not heard anything about my H1N1 vaccine order. I do know the Pediatric Clinic and the Health Dept have some on hand. I will send a letter home with the students as soon as I receive the vaccine.

We are still continuing to have several students test positive with Type A flu. We have also had a lot of students out due to a virus. Symptoms include low grade fever, vomiting, and headache. We are still being over cautious with our cleaning. Remember, if your child is running fever, please keep them home. They must be free of fever for 24 hrs.

As of 9/2/02 we have had several confirmed cases of Type A flu. We have stepped up the cleaning process using a germicidal solution to clean doorknobs, faucets, and sinks in restrooms and other areas of heavy use. Good hand washing is being encouraged by posters, education, and frequent reminders during the day. Classroom teachers are using disinfectant wipes to clean desks, computer keyboards, learning centers, etc. also.

Symptoms of the flu include: fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills, and fatigue. Some people may also have vomiting and diarrhea. If your child is sent home sick, we ask that they be fever free for 24 hours before they return to school.
